I started a career in sales at a car dealership. During my first month, I had my own office that shared a wall with a vacant office. Then one day, a new guy started. He moved into the office next to mine. He was really attractive, but I wasn’t thinking of him romantically, at the time. We worked the same shift and quickly became office buddies, then good friends who got to know each other, friends who ate dinner after work together, and before long — we became engaged. Ty, my past co-worker is now my fiancé.

I fell in love with my co-worker. It is considered taboo, but it happens, quite often.

In fact, at least ⅓ of U.S. employees are engaging in romances with their co-workers, according to a recent survey by Society for Human Resource Management, which found that 33% of their survey’s participants currently are or were previously involved in a workplace romance.
